If you want/need latin style, then go to descarga.com. They are NYC based and cater to all styles of latin music. There are also albums that one may listen to .

In addition to teaching, I'm also a DJ .If you are in the UK, then there are other choices.

Hi Terence2,

Is downloading from a free MP3-site constitutes breaking the law? Or some of these are legit? How to tell?

As with any type of download, there are concerns about malware.
Even a good and trusted site can get hacked.

Good virus protection and malware protection is a must. Which one is best is basically a personal preference. I use several free ones, such as Ad-aware.

As far as legalities go, I really can't answer that specifically, not being an attorney, but, I look at it as I did many years ago when I listened to broadcast music on the radio and recorded it on tape (similarly, recording movies off the TV). I think, in a general sense, if you don't use the music that you download in a commercial operation, you should be good.

I generally do buy my music from Amazon and I've ripped all my CD's to my computer and backed them up on several jump drives (I have tons of songs).

You may also be able to download just the music from Youtube (there are free programs to do those things. I don't, I don't care for the quality of the stuff on Youtube).

I don't know if that clarifies anything, but, yes, there are some songs that you can't find anywhere except in some online archive. If you have doubts, don't download. If you know someone with some computer skills, you can set up a "Virtual" environment and download to that (It is not actually on your computer) and scan for virus's or Trojans or other nasties before putting on your system.

Caution is always a good thing unless you're Evil Knievel.

Hi Deepnd,

Thanks for the advice. So far I have not found any computer skilled friends who know how to do the "Virtual" environment and download to that. It sounds like a very good way to avoid viruses.

If you can give me a hint or a link to a website which explains the process, I would very much appreciate it.

Try buying your Dance music CD's instead of down loading from youtube for nothing.

Hi Guest,

As I said, somewhere above, I definitely prefer buying them on CD and never downloaded free.

However, some of the old songs are not available anywhere, except on questionable MP3 sites. This was confirmed by other readers of this topic.

Also, I am concerned about the law. So far, no one has commented with that regard. Please read my above comments before you condemn me. Thank you.

But I DID comment about the "law ". A high profile NYC distributor ( decarga.com ) would NOT be offering that service ,if it were not legal.

Hi Terence2,

Yes you did. Thanks. It is clear that the supplier you suggested is legit.

I did not express myself clearly. I was looking for a way to find out what some of these unusual, often foreign looking, websites are legitimate. I found one that had the song I wanted, offering it free in MP3, but I did not downloaded it because I was not sure if it was legal, and was worried about the possible virus threat.

In other words, my impression is that just because it is free it could be legitimate, as long as it is not used for commercial purposes. But I am not sure. If you could throw some light on this, I would much appreciate it.
